The article "Distributed self" talks about how we can make immersive figures that can be just like human. If we are able to transfer our thoughts and consciousness to avatar so that avatar works exactly like us, we don't need to multitask anymore. When we are in sleep, Avatar can perform and communicate our thought on web. Also, it is possible to have multiple avatars. He talked about main avatar and alternative avatars doing totally different things. They can possess a characteristics about ourselves embodied in them which is called " distributed self.
Identity mapping relates to this article because it asks about each of our experiences and different characteristics on a social media. We had to answer multiple questions about ourselves and how we are involved in a web. And the identity mapping was completed after gathering all these info about ourselves. They presented a map with physical self on the middle of earth and show the other orbitals which we are involved in. Although Identity mapping looks simpler than avatar, Identity mapping gives a pure idea of transferring our identity into a mind map.
